Fresh grad frontend dev: ano reasonable asking salary?
Fresh grad here, currently interviewing for frontend roles. Need help sa salary expectation. Questions: 1. Ano ba talaga reasonable range for fresh grad frontend? 2. Pano sumagot pag tinanong expected salary? If mababa, how do I respond to negotiate to a higher ask? 3. Malaking factor ba university sa salary? Need honest feedback kasi ayaw ko rin ma-lowball. Parents ko kasi nag-suggest na tanggapin ko kahit anong offer basta magka-experience, but tamang ba mindset ba yun?

Sign in to commentI would apply for some roles I have no intention of getting into, just to get a rough numerical estimate of what my market rate is. I do this so that when I DO apply and get accepted to the job I'm after, I know what salary to ask for—I would already have a number in my head at that point.
Tbh what's reasonable is what makes your life livable under a certain level of comfort. After that, getting pay raises should be easier as you rack up experience—madali mag-level up sa tech if you're good at not just the engineering, but also the soft skills. Can't speak for corporate but for startups it definitely does not matter what your educational background is. I've heard of some startup CTOs here in the PH hire college dropouts because what mattered more was their skillset.
Personally, it’s not money that should be as a fresh grad. Go to the company where you can learn from the MOST and I suppose you can find that by figuring out who would be managing you and thinking about what you can learn from them… or your team. But if salary is really your priority, you need to interview for a lot of roles so you can leverage job offers to negotiate for a higher salary. Typically, I like to ask what the approved budget is for a role when it comes to hiring buut i’m not sure how high that could be for a junior role. Goodluck!
